Firearms and Ammunition

We advise our clients to bring their own rifles, as ammunition is very expensive in South Africa. Our recommendation to you would be to contact our Rifle Import/Export specialist.

We have three different categories:

Small Game:minimum of 6mm and upwards with 130 grain bullets.
Medium to Large Game: minimum of .300 caliber with 170 grain bullets.
Dangerous Game: minimum of .375 caliber with 230 grain bullets.
*Only 200 rounds for each permitted firearm or shotgun will be allowed.

Clothing: Hunting Gear (Checklist)

Binoculars

Most hunters prefer a roof prism binocular with a magnification of 8x to 10x and an objective lens of 25mm to 46mm. Lately, hunters are choosing mid-size binoculars with 32mm to 42mm lenses which are more ideal for dusk, night and hunting early in the morning. In case of a drop or fall from a hunting vehicle or ledge, you’ll need a rugged pair that’s durable such as binoculars built with rubber armor housing. Choose a pair that’s O-ring sealed and nitrogen purged so you receive full waterproof and fog proof dependability. Your focal adjustment will also be an important factor. The center focus mechanism is the most popular choice of all hunters because of its ease of use.

Camera

To choose the best digital camera to capture all the Kodak moments on your hunting safari is very important. Make sure that Full HD video can be recorded and output via the built-in HDMI interface and global positioning information can be recorded for sharing on image and video sharing websites. Advanced photographers will also appreciate the inclusion of manual exposure options, whereas a wide range of automatic shooting options are also included for those who are less technically inclined. A good flash for low light or dark conditions is essential.

Water

Water is safe for human consumption and no need to bring water.
